About

Quite early in my career I worked for a large company whose company culture I admired, where I was cited as being among the best in my specialty, and where I had several bosses I deeply enjoyed. Despite all this, there were aspects of the job I was not particularly good at, and definitely did not like.

In truth, there was a lot about who I was being that I didn’t like.

Crabby. Flaky. Fatigued. Not much fun.

Like just about all of us, I was craving a career that played more into my strengths and interests, and less into my shortcomings. I wanted to like myself at work again. So after 10 years, I left.

I earned a graduate degree with an emphasis on emotional intelligence and the shadow side of power in human systems. Invested in a whole lot of other trainings and certifications. I began my business providing services to organizations wanting to help work work for people. It's gone well.

Looking back, while I’m glad I made the change, I now know I didn’t actually have to leave in order to find what I was looking for. There were ways I was showing up under stress that I could have shifted in order to be the person I could like again.

That blinding-flash-of-the-obvious insight continues to be both humbling and liberating.

So now? Thirty years later, I’m a well-seasoned executive coach, retreat facilitator, and conflict guide. I love love love what I get to do each day, and who I get to work with.

Indeed, I become extremely fond of all my clients-- even and especially when they come to me crabby, flaky, or fatigued.

A native Oregonian, I live in photogenic Monterey. I’m a regular bicycler, a wild-water swimmer, and proud mom to the most amazing young woman. I swoon over good ice cream.
